Fuquay-Varina Community Library

Objectives

The Fuquay-Varina Community Library was a brand-new project for the community in North Carolina as the area was seeing tremendous growth. The client had big goals. The library was to serve as a creative hub for the community. From entertainment, seminars, study groups and more, the client also shared their vision for the design elements they wanted to be reflected in the building. This included bold and modern concepts and a variety of materials.

Solutions

The architectural block chosen is in a ground finish, which has a semi-gloss feel to it with many visible aggregates that add extra color in different lighting. CMU was selected for the foundation and framing of the building for its strength and durability.

Results

The two colors used, Night Mist and Ivory Coast, added to the boldness of the architecture because of the extreme contrast they create when combined. The selected block and design accomplished the client’s overall expectations creating an eye-catching and welcoming space for the community.
